Concrete Contractor in Beverly Hills - Driveways and Patios Built on a Solid Base
Keystone Beverly Hills Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Beverly Hills. We build driveways, patios, steps, walls and foundations for homes across the city, and I come out myself to look at each job first.

Concrete work on Beverly Hills homes
Most of our calls in Beverly Hills come from homeowners and property owners planning a driveway, a patio, front steps or foundation work, and a lot of it is on older houses where the original concrete has done its time. On the flatter streets we tend to find long driveways, front walks and patios that have cracked or sunk unevenly. Up in the hillside neighborhoods it's more often steps, retaining walls and slabs on sloped lots. We're based here and do the same work next door in West Hollywood and down in Culver City.
The price here moves with the size of the slab, how much old concrete has to come out and be hauled off, how much digging the base needs and how easy it is to get a truck to the spot. The schedule turns mostly on the permit and on the curing time before you can use the new slab. I come out, look at the ground and send you a written estimate that explains what's included. On a sloped lot, or under a driveway that's been sinking, the job usually comes down to the subgrade, the soil the slab sits on, so that's where we start.
What we build in Beverly Hills
Older driveways here usually crack and sink because the base was raked flat, not packed, so we dig out, compact a firm base and pour on it.
Before we set a form for a backyard patio, we check where your water runs, because a slab that falls toward the house sends rain to your walls.
Stamped concrete gives a patio or front walk the look of stone or brick, for homes here where plain gray won't match the house.
Front walks often get lifted by tree roots or settle at the joints and leave trip edges, so we break out the bad sections and pour them level.
Older garages here often have thin, cracked floors, so we break them out, pack a new base and pour a steel-reinforced slab that sweeps clean.
Colored, exposed-aggregate and sandblasted finishes let the concrete around an older Beverly Hills home suit its style. We can bring samples to the estimate.
On sloped hillside lots, a retaining wall holds back soil and water, so the footing, the steel and the drain behind it matter more than the face.
For an addition, a guest house or a pool house, we pour interior floor slabs flat and level so your flooring goes down without extra leveling.
A pool deck needs a finish with grip for wet bare feet and a slope that carries water away from the pool, so we plan both first.
Front steps on hillside and older homes often crack where they pull away from the house. We pour new ones with steel and even steps so nobody trips.
Slab foundations for additions and guest houses usually go through plan review, so we build to the approved drawings and have the base and steel ready for inspection.
When an older Beverly Hills house is rebuilt or gets an addition, we pour the full foundation, footings and walls together, to the engineer's drawings.
Apartment and commercial lots here see cars and delivery trucks all day, so we build a heavier base, add steel and slope the surface to the drains.
Footings carry walls, posts and patio covers down to firm soil. We dig them to the depth on your plans and keep the holes clean until the pour.
If a corner of the house has dropped and doors stick or cracks run up the walls, we find out why it settled before we lift anything.
On Beverly Hills remodels we saw-cut clean openings for drains, pipes and doorways, and cut out damaged sections so a patch meets the old concrete on a straight edge.
What Beverly Hills homes ask of concrete
I come out to look at the job myself, write the estimate and run the work on site, and I'll explain what goes under the surface before we pour anything.
Base work comes first
If the budget has to give, trim the finish, not the base, since the base can't be redone once concrete covers it.
Steel set where it works
Rebar, the steel bars inside the slab, holds cracked pieces together, so we set it on supports, not on the dirt.
Joints cut on purpose
Concrete shrinks as it hardens, so we cut control joints, grooves that give cracks a straight place to run, on time.
Cooler pours, proper curing
We pour in the cooler morning hours and keep you off it through curing, the wait while it gains strength.
Licensed, insured, permits handled
We check what the city asks for at your address, handle the permit paperwork and tell you early if we need drawings.
Beverly Hills concrete questions
Do I need a permit for a concrete driveway or patio in Beverly Hills?
Plan on checking before any work starts, because the city's Building & Safety Division issues permits for exterior improvements, repairs, new construction and demolition, and grading needs its own permit before any dirt moves. Each structure gets its own permit too, so a new wall and a new slab may be separate. We find out what the city wants for your address and take care of the paperwork when it's needed.
When do I need a licensed contractor in Beverly Hills?
The city requires a licensed contractor on any project valued at $1,000 or more, which takes in most concrete jobs. Owners can only act as their own builder on an owner-occupied single-family house, or for interior work in an owner-occupied condo. We're licensed and insured, so that part is covered when you hire us.
How do I get a building permit in Beverly Hills?
You apply at the city's Permit Center on the first floor of City Hall, which takes walk-ins Monday through Thursday from 8 to 10 AM, or you can call (310) 285-1000 for an appointment. On our jobs we handle the application for you. If the house is rented and the work could affect a tenant's unit for more than a day, the city also wants a Means and Method Plan filed with its rent stabilization office before the permit, and we'll tell you early if that applies.
How long does a building permit stay valid in Beverly Hills?
A Beverly Hills building permit is good for one year from the day it's issued, and work has to start and inspections have to be scheduled within that year. Each successful inspection pushes the expiration out another 180 days, so a job that keeps passing inspections stays covered. We plan the pour so the inspections fall in order.
Can I get driveway or sidewalk work done near the street in Beverly Hills in December?
Probably not on the street side, because the city has set a construction moratorium on the public right of way, the city land along the street, from November 16, 2026, through January 4, 2027. If your job reaches into that strip, like a driveway apron or a sidewalk section, we'll plan that part before or after those dates. Tell us at the estimate where your project meets the street so we can sort out the timing.
What drives the cost of a concrete driveway in Beverly Hills?
The size of the slab, how much old concrete we break out and haul away, the base work under it, the steel and the finish you choose set most of the price. Access matters here too, since a tight driveway or a hillside lot can mean a pump or more hand work, and on permitted jobs the city charges general contractors a business tax figured from the project's value when the permit is issued. I'll walk the site and put it all in a written estimate.
